Journalistic Article Competition 2023

The Competition is organized under the auspices of the Director of Secondary Education at the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth

The Cyprus Mathematical Society (CyMS) announces a competition for writing a journalistic expository article of philosophical reflection and expression of ideas on the subject:

«The Role of Mathematics in Entrepreneurship»

The article will be of an exploratory/documentary type and the participants in the competition are expected to refer to the applications of Mathematics in the activity of Entrepreneurship in question, with documented positions on the role of Mathematics in the evolution, development and promotion of activities related to the act and practice of entrepreneurship. 

Students of lower and upper secondary education schools of public and private schools of Cyprus are entitled to participate in the competition.

The deadline for the submission of articles is 13 January 2023, until 12:00 noon.

The written articles that will be prepared should be sent by e-mail to the address cms@cms.org.cy in WORD and PDF format simultaneously in the same email. In the subject of the e-mail to be written "Mathematics Article Competition 2023".

The authors of the 10 best articles, that will be distinguished for each level, Gymnasium and Lyceum, will be invited to present their article and their positions at the 2023 Pancyprian Student Conference on Mathematics and to answer oral questions of the evaluators.

Based on this assessment the following prizes for each level will be given:

(a) 1st Prize: Diploma of Success, Honorary Plate and Tablet

(b) 2nd Prize: Diploma of Success, Honorary Plate 

(c) 3rd Prize: Diploma of Success.
