EMS Mathematics Journalistic Article Competition MJAC-2020 - RESULTS

The Organizing Committee of the EUROMATH & EUROSCIENCE 2020 Conference, in cooperation with the European Mathematical Society (EMS) Education Committee, announced the results of the EMS Mathematics Journalistic Article Competition 2020.

The aim of the competition was for students of age 10-19 to write a journalistic expository article of philosophical reflection, investigation and expression of ideas on the subject “Mathematics is Everywhere”.

The articles submitted were assessed by a team of assessors appointed by the EUROMATH & EUROSCIENCE 2020 Organizing Committee entrusted by the EMS Education Committee.  

According to their assessment a list of six finalists was announced in the EUROMATH & EUROSCIENCE 2020 website. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the cancellation of the EUROMATH & EUROSCIENCE 2020 Conference by the Greek authorities, the oral presentation and assessment part of the competition could not be completed. Therefore, the Organizing Committee decided to conclude the European Mathematics Journalistic Article Competition 2020 based on the scripts sent by the students and announce the winners.

The winners of the EMS European Mathematics Journalistic Article Competition 2020, are:

1st prize: MJAC2 - Panagiotis Georgiou, Doukas School, Greece

2nd prize: MJAC4 - Christos Tapakoudis, Gymnasium Dianellou and Theodotou, Cyprus

3rd prize: MJAC6 - Adamos Loizou, Lykio Paralimniou, Cyprus

The awards will be given in the 2021 EUROMATH&EUROSCIENCE event.

The following prizes will be awarded to the winners:

1st prize: Diploma + Laptop

2nd prize: Diploma + Books

3rd prize: Diploma + Books
