CL 28/2020: Extended deadline for nominations for IMU awards
To: The Adhering Organizations of the International Mathematical Union (IMU)
Dear colleagues,
As is well known, the IMU awards some of the most prestigious prizes in mathematics.
Specifically
– The Fields Medals
– The IMU Abacus Medal
– The Carl Friedrich Gauss Prize
– The Chern Medal Award
– The Leelavati Prize
In addition, the IMU also selects the
− ICM Emmy Noether Lecturer
In Circular Letter 15/2020 the Adhering Organizations were asked to nominate candidates for the above awards by the deadline of 31 December 2020.
In the Circular Letter one can find further information about the nomination procedure.
Given the circumstances and constraints under which everyone in the community has been working this year, the IMU has decided that an extension of the deadline is both appropriate and justified.
We hereby extend the deadline to 28 February 2021.
Nominations received after this date will only be considered at the discretion of the committee.
Regards
Helge Holden
